As you have probably heard the clubhouse is finally going to get a coat of paint and some new lighting so will be closed 16th to 20th. Huge thanks to Jock Morris for the very reasonable quote which is commercially sensitive but contrary to rumours is not $30k. Huge thanks also to Blue Cook for sourcing the lights at under half the price of the quoted ones – another huge saving for us.

The Cantago Cup Mixed Combined Stableford is on Saturday November 14 and this Saturday is the men's Texas Hold'Em followed by special Texas themed catering - contact Margaret or Shirley for bookings

When coring was done you may have noticed a difference to the practice chipping green - it has been aerated using a different method so that we can compare recovery rates and condition. Fingers crossed that this works well as there could be increased savings for us as well as less recovery time

We have now taken delivery of a brand new John Deere greens mower - we got a very sweet deal with delayed payment and finance options so this purchase was brought forward from when it was originally planned

We have been successful in applying for grants towards a new cart shed and another one is in the pipeline. Final planning and costings are proceeding around this as we still have quite a shortfall for the total cost but again we are lucky that we have so many members to help out with reducing our costs. This should be completed next year as we have 12 months from when the grants were received to complete the project

The driving range is taking shape now - hope to up and running by mid to late November

She Loves Golf Tuesday and Thursday 5.30 to 6.30 a review for two weeks then will play holes. Wine and nibbles after. Cost $10 - if you know anyone thinking of starting get them to come along

Although it is a way off yet (December 7) now is the time to think about putting your hand up to help out in some way and consider coming on one of the newly formed sub-committees:

We need more people to help out in the bar so we can form a roster - unless you want to put your hand up to get a licence and give Maurie and well-deserved break

We are looking for more people to help on the sponsorship committee

The trees and planting sub-committee is also short of volunteers

Finally what about H&S? We really need more people to help with this...
